JZN NFL Predictions vs. Spread (2011-12) Week 15 Picks Part 3 of 5

Here is part 3 of 5 of my Week 15 picks for the 2011-12 NFL season.

Washington Redskins at New York Giants (-6.5)
The Washington Redskins won the regular-season opener, 28-14. However, they've had a ton of injuries since that period and have fallen to 4-9. The Giants had a six-game winning streak against the Redskins before that loss.

I'm still not sold on the Giants to where I'd give 6.5 points. They're coming off their first win in five weeks (should've been a loss had Tony Romo completed that pass to Laurent Robinson) and it's a rivalry game. I still think Giants will win but it'll be within one possession.

Against The Spread: Washington Redskins (+6.5)
Straight: New York Giants 27, Washington Redskins 24

New Orleans Saints (-7) at Minnesota Vikings
This matchup features the NFL's No. 1 passing offense (325.2 yards per game; 447.8 yards overall offense) versus the Vikings' No. 26 passing defense. The Vikings have also allowed the second-most passing plays of 40+ yards. Not a good stat when you're playing the Saints' offense in a dome. I'd also say that they're eager to play after a mediocre showing against the Tennessee Titans in Week 14.

The Vikings lost to the Saints in 2009 and 2010 in New Orleans. While they have a running game that could shorten the game and cause problems for the Saints' defense, I don't see the Vikings' coaching staff being smart enough to use it for all four quarters. For whatever reason, many of the Vikings' losses have been from abandoning the running game in the second half.

Saints should win easy.

Against The Spread: New Orleans Saints (-7)
Straight: New Orleans Saints 38, Minnesota Vikings 17

Detroit Lions (-1) at Oakland Raiders
Tough game here. The Lions haven't played well on the road. However, they've dominated both AFC West teams they've faced this season (Kansas City Chiefs and Denver Broncos). Oakland has been beaten in their past two games by a combined score of 80-30. The sad part is that the games were uglier than the scores indicated.

These may be the NFL's two dumbest teams. I'm really 50/50 on this game. I'm just not going with the Raiders after those past two performances.

Against The Spread: Detroit Lions (-1)
Straight: Detroit Lions 31, Oakland Raiders 21
