JZN NFL Predictions vs. Spread: Kansas City Chiefs at Chicago Bears (Week 13, 2011-12)

The early spread on this game is Bears (-7). Here are some of the key aspects of the game and what to watch out for in pick ’em leagues. All lines from Y! Sports and injury reports from CBS Sports as of November 30, 2011. Always update yourselves with injury lines because they’ll change throughout the week. Please note that ATS means “Against the spread.”

*My* Current Personal Picks Record (Straights Picks Only)
Chicago Bears 6-5
Kansas City Chiefs 6-5

Key Injuries
QB Jay Cutler (Out), QB Matt Cassel (IR), CB DJ Moore, G Ryan Lilja, LB Demorrio Williams

Keys to the Game
  • Caleb Hanie vs. Kyle Orton or Tyler Palko?
  • Will Devin Hester be an X-Factor?
  • Can the Chiefs’ defense keep it close?
  • The Bears’ defense has 16 interceptions on the season

Summary
Caleb Hanie had a rough outing in his first NFL start this season that featured three first-half interceptions. The Chiefs are also dealing with quarterback issues after Matt Cassel was lost for the season. Tyler Palko has performed horribly while Kyle Orton may not be ready to start this week.

The Chiefs haven’t scored a touchdown in two weeks. I feel like they’re due that this week. Other than that, not much else. I’m going to take the points here. However, a defensive touchdown or Devin Hester could put the spread in the Bears’ favor.

Final Predictions:
Against the Spread: Kansas City Chiefs (+7)
Straight: Chicago Bears 16, Kansas City Chiefs 10
