JZN NFL Predictions vs. Spread: Dallas Cowboys at Arizona Cardinals (Week 13, 2011-12)

The early spread on this game is Cowboys (-4.5). Here are some of the key aspects of the game and what to watch out for in pick ’em leagues. All lines from Y! Sports and injury reports from CBS Sports as of November 30, 2011. Always update yourselves with injury lines because they’ll change throughout the week. Please note that ATS means “Against the spread.”

*My* Current Personal Picks Record (Straights Picks Only)
Arizona Cardinals 9-2
Dallas Cowboys 8-3

Key Injuries
LB Joey Porter, QB Kevin Kolb, S Kerry Rhodes (Out), CB Mike Jenkins, WR Miles Austin,

Keys to the Game
  • The Cowboys are 3-0 against NFC West teams; the Cardinals are 1-2 against NFC East teams with losses to the Washington Redskins and New York Giants.
  • The Cardinals pulled off an upset when Dallas played them last season.
  • Can the Cardinals avoid turnovers? They have a 13-point differential in turnover ratio when compared to the Cowboys
  • Can the Cowboys contain Larry Fitzgerald? Can the Cardinals contain Dez Bryant?

Summary
This could be a trap game for the Cowboys. The Cardinals have won three of their past four games. The problem with picking the Cowboys is that it’s hard to predict what will come from Tony Romo.

The Cardinals have already lost close games with the Redskins and Giants. I don’t see any reason why the Cardinals can’t keep this within the (+4.5) spread. I’m still going with the Cowboys though because I think they’re the better team. The Cardinals really need to avoid turnovers and I’m not sure that’ll happen as they’re facing a Rob Ryan defense.

Final Predictions:
Against the Spread: Arizona Cardinals (+4.5)
Straight: Dallas Cowboys 24, Arizona Cardinals 21
