JZN NFL Predictions: New York Jets at Buffalo Bills (Week 9, 2011-12)

The New York Jets have had two weeks to prepare for their divisional contest with the Buffalo Bills. The Jets are trying to remain over .500 while the Bills look to improve to 6-2.

The early spread on this game is PK ‘EM. Here are some of the key aspects of the game and what to watch out for in pick ’em leagues. All lines from Y! Sports and injury reports from CBS Sports as of November 2, 2011. Always update yourselves with injury lines because they’ll change throughout the week. Please note that ATS means “Against the spread.”

*MY* Current Personal Picks Record (Straights Only)
New York Jets 5-2
Buffalo Bills 2-5

Key Injuries
WR Donald Jones, NT Kyle Williams, DB Aaron Williams, OL Demetrius Bell, RB LaDainian Tomlinson, DL Mike DeVito, DL Kenrick Ellis, LB David Harris

Keys to the Game
  • The Jets have had two weeks of rest and preparation
  • Can Mark Sanchez avoid foolish turnovers?
  • Home-field advantage belongs to the Bills
  • How will the Bills attack a defense that has Darrelle Revis?
  • Can the Jets contain Fred Jackson?

The Jets are 0-3 ATS on the road while the Bills are 3-1 ATS at home. The Bills lead the NFL with 14 interceptions. Turnovers should be critical in this contest as both teams have good turnover ratios. The Bills are +9 while the Jets are +3.

The Jets haven’t played well away from home this season. Their victories have mostly been close calls that could’ve gone either way. I’m going with the ATS trends and taking the Bills.

Final Predictions:
Against the Spread: Buffalo Bills (PK ‘EM)
Straight: Buffalo Bills 27, New York Jets 24
