JZN NFL Predictions vs. Spread: Kansas City Chiefs at Oakland Raiders (Week 7, 2011-12)

EDIT 10-19-11: The game is at Oakland, not Kansas City. Read the matchup wrong. Continue on.

Carson Palmer is expected to make his Oakland Raiders debut when they face the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 7. The Chiefs are looking to return to .500 and get revenge for having been swept last season by the Raiders.

The early spread on this game is Raiders (-4). Here are some of the key aspects of the game and what to watch out for in pick ’em leagues. All lines from Y! Sports and injury reports from CBS Sports as of October 19, 2011. Always update yourselves with injury lines because they’ll change throughout the week.

Current Personal Picks Record (Straights Only)
Oakland Raiders 4-2
Kansas City Chiefs 3-2

Key Injuries
CB Chris Johnson, C Samson Satele, QB Jason Campbell (Out), Matt Shaughnessy (IR)

Keys to the Game
  • Carson Palmer is expected to start. Will he be rusty?
  • The Chiefs have had two weeks of preparation and rest
  • The Raiders were 6-0 against AFC West opponents last season
  • Can the Chiefs contain Darren McFadden?

Summary
The Chiefs have won two consecutive games against teams with a combined record of 1-11. I can’t see them beating an up-and-coming Raiders team. The Raiders swept them last year when the Chiefs weren’t decimated with injuries to guys like Eric Berry and Jamaal Charles. The Raiders have improved since last season.

Make sure to keep an eye on the quarterback situation. I just don’t think it means as much for them because they’re reliant on their ground game. The Chiefs’ offense also shouldn’t pose much of a threat on the scoreboard.

Final Predictions:
Against the Spread: Oakland Raiders (-4)
Straight: Oakland Raiders 24, Kansas City Chiefs 13
