JZN NFL Predictions vs. Spread: Buffalo Bills at New York Giants (Week 6, 2011-12)

The Buffalo Bills are posing as a legitimate contender in the AFC East after improving to 3-1. They haven’t proven that they can win on the road. The New York Giants need a home win after losing to the Seattle Seahawks in Week 5.

The early spread on this game is Giants (-3). Here are some of the key aspects of the game and what to watch out for in pick’ em leagues. All lines from Y! Sports and Injury Reports from CBS Sports as of October 11, 2011. Always update yourselves with injury lines because they’ll change throughout the week.
Current Personal Picks Record (Straights Only)
New York Giants (2-3)
Buffalo Bills (1-4)

Key Injuries
NT Kyle Williams, LB Chris Kelsay, DB Aaron Williams (Out), RB Brandon Jacobs, CB Prince Amukamara, C David Baas, DE Justin Tuck, G Chris Snee

Keys to the Game
  • Are the New York Giants overrated or just inconsistent?
  • Should the Giants realistically be 1-4?
  • Can the Bills win on the road? Is this really a “Road” game?
  • Can Eli Manning avoid costly interceptions against a turnover-happy defense?
  • Which defense can limit the scoring?

The Giants haven’t played well this season. They could easily be anywhere from 1-4 to 4-1. They probably don’t beat the Philadelphia Eagles without Michael Vick leaving the game. They’re also fortunate to have beaten the Arizona Cardinals after a controversial non-fumble call.

The Bills were an “Almost doesn’t count” team last season. That defense is helping them get over that ledge. Ryan Fitzpatrick is really developing into a nice quarterback. They have a balanced offense and an opportunistic defense that creates scoring opportunities aplenty.

I can’t side with a team that just lost to the Seattle Seahawks at home. The Giants are hurting and Eli Manning is a huge liability against that defense that caused four turnovers on Tom Brady. I like the Bills as an upset pick.

Final Predictions:
Against the Spread: Buffalo Bills (+3)
Straight: Buffalo Bills 31, New York Giants 24
